El Libro

It’s all of our families’ books together. Each family has its own, with its story, and together they make up El Libro de los Puertorriqueños. It’s an initiative of MĒMORA.

Any family with roots in Puerto Rico, whether they live on the island or not. Even if it’s through a great-grandparent.

Your family is already part of Puerto Rico. What you pay for is the book: the conversation, the writing, the design, the printing and the registration. It’s one payment, with no subscriptions.

No. The Certificate of Registration is a symbolic keepsake from MĒMORA that says your family is in El Libro de los Puertorriqueños. It is not an official, legal or genealogical document.
The process

No. Gloria calls you and you talk. That conversation becomes the book.

Up to 90 minutes in total, over a maximum of three calls. If you need more time, you can buy extra time.

Yes. Nothing is printed until you approve it.

Yes. You can tell the story of a loved one who is no longer here. Gloria keeps you company, calmly, while you remember them.

Gloria is the voice of MĒMORA: an AI voice assistant. She calls you, asks you questions calmly and takes note of everything. What you share is yours, and before anything is printed, you read the draft and approve it.

You can tell her story yourself. The author can be a son, a granddaughter or whoever knows her best.

Remembering can bring up strong feelings. During the calls you can pause, skip a question or stop whenever you want; Gloria understands.
Gloria is an AI assistant, not a therapist or an emergency service. If someone shares that they are going through a very hard time, Gloria will kindly give them the number 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, by call or text, in English or Spanish, 24 hours a day), and our team will be notified to follow up.
In an emergency, call 911.

Yes. So the call can be just for your memories, Gloria notes your questions and we text you the answers after the call.

Only your family and the MĒMORA team that writes it. El Libro can’t be searched or browsed. You receive your book and decide who to share it with.

No. No one can see which families are in El Libro. The proof is in your home: the book and the certificate.

Yes. Calls with Gloria are recorded and transcribed only to write your book. Recordings are deleted 90 days after your book is delivered. More details in the Privacy Policy.
